"Frolic" is a portrait of my handsome Quarter Horse gelding, Jack ("Impowered for Time"), who I've had for five years. I searched far and wide for a non-sorrel horse, possibly a non-Quarter Horse after having sorrel Quarter Horses for THIRTY YEARS! I looked at Morgans, Paints, and a few Quarter Horses. The only horse that suited all my criteria was Jack, who was far too big at 16 hands for what I wanted and I simply couldn't sit his huge gaits. But he was sweet and kind and knew how to do EVERYTHING, so I decided I could get a big mounting block and learn to sit those gaits. He has taught me so much! We've been champions in our local show circuit several times and we even placed in a novice AQHA show! Jack's so in tune with me, he will pick up a gait when I'm merely considering whether to do it, and where, and he's always on the right lead. He has 89 AQHA points, so he's been there, done that, and teaches me something new every day, bless him. I taught him to give kisses and hugs. He likes learning tricks. He's my gentle giant and such a cheerful guy. I feel a real lift in my heart every time I see him. He's the best horse I've ever owned, and very tolerant of me moving around him with calipers and tape measures while trying to measure him for sculpture. He went Grand Champion at halter when he was a young'un, so he's a good conformation model, and he's quite playful, so I get lots of interesting photos of him. Jack's a real joy to me.
